The Icy & Unlit Path
For many, the quickest means to catch the Route #7 bus under the new plan will be to climb the Merv Sullivan Park hill. This hill is not a priority for winter clearance, and even when plowed conditions remain icy. This will be a significant struggle for all bus-riders who try to climb the hill, but especially for the elderly and handicapped.
Safety of riders is one of the greatest reasons to maintain the Kencrest loop. A walk up an icy, often un-plowed hill through a park presents many concerns. The fact that the path is not lit in the evenings presents further safety concerns. |
Mobility
Those who have difficulties climbing the hill will be especially affected by this move. This will most negatively impact seniors and the disabled who rely on the bus as their primary means for transportation.
