Reduced Ridership for Halifax Transit
The inconvenience and safety concerns for those who rely on the Kencrest loop bus stops will lead to reduced ridership along the route.
Under the proposed Transit Plan, Halifax Transit Route #7 will maintain the same time frequency, but will remove routes that provide easy access to hundreds of residents. Instead of achieving the name of the plan, to "Make Transit Better", Halifax Transit will negatively impact the viability of this route. As a result, frequency may be reduced, impacting all those who rely on Route #7. |
Additional Time to Drive the Loop is Minimal
The additional time to drive the Kencrest bus loop is minimal, especially when you consider the #7 Gottigen will drive to North Ridge Road to turn around.
The Kencrest Loop adds an additional 2 minutes of driving (1km) to the length of the route. Saving this small amount of time is not worth the safety of riders and potential ridership loss.

The "Make Transit Better" Plan Fails Route #7
- It will force riders to walk through an unlit park path at night.
- Riders with disabilities or the elderly will be placed at a significant disadvantage.
- The icy path through the park in the winter puts riders at risk.
- Reduced ridership could result in a frequency reduction for all of Route #7.
